The plug is designed for use in EV charging cables and will plug into any compatible, male Type 2 socket normally found on EU EVs such as the EU version Tesla Model S (please see the note below), 2018-on EU version Nissan LEAF, Renault Zoe, BMW i3, Audi e-Tron, VW e-UP and VW e-Golf.  It is the FEMALE side of the connection and so has SLEEVES not PINS.

The socket is designed for use in an EVSE (fixed or portable Electric Vehicle Service Equipment or charge point) and does NOT come with the locking solenoid.  It has a sprung-flap.  It has 3 integral stainless steel M5 x 10mm fixing studs which come with stainless steel plain washers and nyloc nuts. It can be ordered with or without 0.3m long connection tails pre-attached using an 8T hydraulic crimper. 

Tail details:- Power - 16A: 2.5mm2 CSA, 32A - 6.0mm2 CSA, multi-strand - Colours; L1 - brown, L2 - black, L3 - grey , N - blue, E - green/yellow.  

Signal - 0.5mm2 CSA, multi-strand - Colours; CP - black, PP - red.

The ‘power’ earth tail has a flying 0.5mm CSA earth lead to connect to the EPC earth terminal.

All tails are terminated with an appropriately sized ferrule.

The plug is 16A 3 phase (3P) and 16A/32A single phase (1P) compatible and comes with 3P connectors included (see photo above).  The only difference between 3P-16A and 3P-32A plugs is the size of the cable inlet.  16A-3P/32A-1P plugs have a maximum cable diameter of 18mm; 32A-3P plugs have a maximum cable diameter of 25mm. Therefore, if you want to use 16A-3P cable, you can order a 16A-1P plug (ie the plug in this auction) as the cable entry will be large enough. If you want to use a 3P-32A cable you must order a 3P-32A phase plug.

The conductors should be crimped using a heavy-duty (eg, hydraulic) crimper.

All pins/sleeves have a conductor entry hole of 4mm diameter, large enough for 10mm2 (60A-70A) conductors, maximum.

The plug can be disassembled with a T15 & T10 Torx drivers (T15 bit needs to be at least 35mm long due to the depth of the head of some screws).

The socket can be dismantled without tools except for locking solenoid (not included) - which requires a T15 Torx driver.

IP54 rated.

PLEASE NOTE:  These leads are NOT compatible with Tesla Wall Chargers as the plugs on Tesla’s tethered EVSEs not only forward the PP connection all the way through to the EV (something I have not seen in any other EVSE other than in 13A-type portable ones where some have a temperature sensor on the 13A mains plug eg those supplied by BMW) but Tesla’s plugs also contain a temperature sensor which mine do not.  The absence of either of these features will render the Tesla EVSE inoperable.  If you need a new tethered lead and plug for your Tesla Wall Charger you will have to approach Tesla.
